Her debut song Here came out in 2015. It was an instant hit, and both critics and the fans were awed by the song. The song reached the top spot in both Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. In that same year she dropped her debut album Know It All with the third song Scars to Your Beautiful being the first of five tracks which reached the top of Billboard charts, including the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. Based on an interview she gave with Rap Up, the track had lots of significance for a lot people listening who were drawn to her tale of accepting and loving yourself. Cara incorporates messages about kindness and loving yourself into her music. Her music is an expression of her personal struggle in dealing with anxiety and depression. According to an Reuters interview, she described the album as being half turbulent and half complete. Her growth was aided by therapy and she encourages others to seek out help when needed. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto in Canada. She was born July 11, 1996 to parents of Italian descent. Her parents gave her a guitar when she was 10 years old, which ignited her love for music. She began covering her favorite songs when she was 13, to prove to that world that she had the skills and the confidence required to become an artist. Sweater Weather is among the covers that resulted in being discovered at the time by EP Entertainment. This record label gave her the opportunity to create new songs of her own.
